Dear Coaches,

My name is Brandon Layne, I am 20 years old and a sophomore at Cabrillo community college in Santa Cruz, California. I play Quarterback and started 4 games last year and split-time as a freshman and threw 15 touchdowns, as well as co-led our passing offense to number one in the state of California. As a student, I have a 3.2 GPA and have 24 credit hours, as well as major in Business. I still have a red-shirt year, if needed. Before Cabrillo College, I attended Franklin High School in El Paso, Texas, where I received District 1-5A Co-MVP, 1st Team All-City, West Texas All-Region Team, and also a 5A All-State Selection.

As a person, I am a quiet, mature individual who sets goals and has the ambition to achieve those goals. I am a very hard working individual, which knows only talent can take you so far. As a quarterback, you have to outwork everyone, and in my case, I have to work even harder because I don’t have the ideal stature for a quarterback but like Russell Wilson says, “My height doesn’t define my skill set.” I am constantly watching film, always working on my mechanics because I want to be the best at what I do.  You’ll get this type of person and player upon arrival at your school. I am very open minded, coachable, and can take constructive criticism because I know it will get me better. I am a very confident person and I feel that carries over to the field.
