Dear Coach,

My name is Lynn Johnson and I am very interested in playing basketball at the collegiate level.   I am 5’8” tall, weigh 130 lbs. and play shooting guard/point guard. I am playing for the Raleigh Lady Phoenix AAU this summer. We will be competing in the Under Armour Nationals July 6-8 in Louisville, Battle in the Boro Nationals in Nashville July 10-13 and the USJN National Showcase in DC July 22-25.

I just completed my sophomore season at Ravenscroft School in Raleigh, North Carolina where we finished the season with a 25-5 overall record and 10-0 conference mark.  Our team advanced to the state championship semifinals where we lost to perennial powerhouse Providence Day. Our average margin of victory was over 30 points in conference play this year,    I contributed an average of 6 points per game and close to 2 assists per game while running the offense much of the time.  In my freshman year, I made the varsity team, and I started at either shooting guard or point guard for about 65% of the games.  I averaged 7 points per game and my 3-point field goal percentage was 39%.  I also received the team’s Most Improved Player Award.

I maintained a 3.9 GPA my freshman year and a 4.2 the first semester of my sophomore year. I was on the honor roll throughout both years.  I enjoy participating in community service projects, and this past summer I took a ten day community service trip to Costa Rica.  I also enjoy other sports.  This past fall, I enjoyed being a member of the varsity cross  country team, and I plan on running cross country again next year.  This spring, now that the school basketball season is over, my AAU team has increased its practice schedule, and I am also regularly training on the VertiMax system with USports Trainers.  Included in my profile is my current AAU tournament schedule.  I am still undecided on what I would like to major in, but I know I would like to attend a college with a strong academic program.

I would love to play basketball for your team and I hope you consider me as your next recruit.
