Vershone has been wrestling for 5 years competing at the High School level for 4 of them.  Competing for state championships in AL each season.

Vershone is a very athletic wrestler aggressive on his feet with good mat awareness.  He showed diversity on his feet hitting shots with both his left and right hands.  From advantage position he was able to control his opponents and turn them.  From bottom he showed good motion and feel creating reversals.  With this small sample he showed dominance and confidence in his wrestling ability.

Vershone showed some in experience on his feet finishing shots over the top of his head and reaching with his lead leg hand.  From advantage position he lacked controlled pressure leaving his opponents hips up.  From bottom when the legs were in he was unable to show any defense for the position.  This assessment is based on a very small sample of matches.

Practice/ Work ethic Assessment:

The practice aspect has not been observed by me personally.  This will allow me to evaluate the building blocks behind his success.

Summery Assessment:

Vershone has some very good attributes showing off his athletic talent with more experience and some higher level competition he can be a nice addition to a Junior College, NAIA or Division 3 college program.   He needs to show in his future clips on his feet basic use of control ties to attacks with clean finishes, from advantage position he needs to demonstrate ability to ride both sides and the use of a quality top series, ie. Spiral ride and half or drape ride and cradle, or bar series.  From bottom the ability to explode to his feet for a stand up, ability to hold sit out position and score with heist or shrimp, the ability to defeat single and double leg rides.

Dear Coach:

My name is Vershone Graham and I am writing to you because I am an honors student and a wrestler.  I am interested in continuing my wrestling career with your college. I hope that with continued coaching, I may one day be able to wrestle for Team USA. My short term goal is to wrestle in college on a wrestling scholarship.

I am currently a junior at Wetumpka High School, where I am a member of the wrestling team. I have been a wrestler since 7th grade, and in my 8th grade year, I was pulled up to wrestle varsity with the Wetumpka High School team in the 106lb weight class even though I was only 95lbs. I was one match away from going to the State finals but I broke my wrist. My freshman year, I qualified for state competition, and I was awarded Most Outstanding Wrestler for Wetumpka High School. I moved to Maryland, where I attended Governor Thomas Johnson High School in Frederick, Maryland as a sophomore. I wrestled at GTJHS, and I was awarded Most Outstanding Wrestler for my sophomore year. I was the only one of my team to qualify for the state tournament in Maryland. I returned to Wetumpka High School, where I am now a Junior. On January 24, 2015, I wrestled the previous two-time state champion in my weight division. In the 6A classification for the 126lb weight class, he was ranked number 1 and I was ranked number 2. With an escape and 5 point move, I beat him 6-0, and I became ranked number 1 in the 6A classification.

My academic accomplishments include taking both Advanced Placement and honor courses, and maintaining a 3.38 GPA. I am involved in robotics, and I am also a library and technology aide at my school. I will take the ACT in April of 2015. During college, I plan to major in psychology. After completing my undergraduate studies, I plan to pursue a degree in law, with hopes of one day becoming a judge.

I would love to speak to you in reference to college and the wrestling program there. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to speaking with you.
