Golf Evaluation for Thomas Williams

When I first had the opportunity tp review Thomas’s golf resume and swing videos I thought I was learning about a player with way more than four years of experience playing the game of golf. In the short time that Thomas has focused on golf as his primary sport he has made huge strides in his game. My conclusion after reviewing this information is that with continued hard work and dedication Thomas can compete in the ranks of college golf.

He possesses solid fundamentals in all aspects of the game (grip, posture, alignment, weight shift, balance). What I like most about his game is how he swings with great balance and effortless power. This is a trait that most great ball strikers possess. Thomas shows no major weakness in his swing mechanics.

While reviewing Thomas’s playing record I was impressed with his tournament schedule and the results he has achieved. He has shown the ability to shoot low scores and subsequently contend for top honors. I believe this success will continue on for Thomas and he will be a solid contributor in the next level of collegiate golf.

Best Wishes,

Dear Coach,

Please allow me to introduce myself.  My name is Thomas Williams and I’m a Junior at Fuquay-Varina High School in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina.  I will graduate in 2016 and I’ve been playing golf competitively at the high school level since my Freshman year.  I’m 6 ft. 1” tall and weigh 155 pounds.

I began playing golf at age 14 and a few months later I began playing in high school golf matches.  I’m grateful that I have developed my golf skills quickly and I was able to play for my high school team during my Freshman, Sophomore and my current Junior year.  As a Sophomore, I was proud to earn SWAC All-Conference honors, with an average score of 38.25.  This allowed me to represent my school team and play in the Regionals. For both my Freshman and Sophomore year, I played the first and second spots on my team, qualifying for every high school match.  For my current Junior year, I qualified first and have played out of the number one spot in all events with a current average of 37.5.  Through my determination to improve, much practice and hard work, I’m playing with a humble confidence and at the same time enjoying the experience.  I’m convinced I can continue to improve and I practice almost every day.

Along with my desire to excel in golf, I maintain a strong focus on academics as well.  My current GPA average is 4.3.  This year, I’m taking many college preparatory classes, including AP Environmental Science and AP Psychology, in addition to several honors classes. I am active in several clubs including:  National Honor Society (NHS), Key Club, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).  As a Freshman, I received my high school’s Academic Excellence award for Technology, Engineering and Design.

I strongly believe that I can do well in both academics and competitive golf and that they truly complement each other.   I’m committed to being an active leader in my school, church and community, knowing that I can make a positive impact every day on those around me.

In closing, I want to thank you for taking time to consider me as a possible future addition to your golf team, and for reviewing my information packet and video.  I hope we can talk in person and I look forward to hearing from you.

                                                                        Sincerely,

                                                                        Thomas Williams
