Jim Sleeper has over thirty years of experience scouting, evaluating, developing and coaching professional basketball players and teams. Since 2012, Jim has been a NBA regional advance scout and consultant for various teams including the New Orleans Pelicans, Philadelphia 76ers, Cleveland Cavaliers and the Orlando Magic. From 2003-12, he was a full-time advance scout for the Portland Trail Blazers. In this position, he assisted the coaching staff in all areas of game preparation and strategy.

Previous to his tenure in the NBA, Jim spent twenty years as a coach and player personnel director at the minor league professional level.He has been a head coach with the Grand Rapids Hoops and the Sioux Falls Sky Force of the Continental Basketball Association, Huntsville Lasers of the Global Basketball Association, and Empire State Stallions of the United States Basketball League. Jim also served as an assistant coach for seven CBA teams, including helping to lead  the Oklahoma City Calvary and Quad City Thunder to back-to-back championships in 1997 and 1998.During these years, he assisted in drafting and developing many future NBA players, and developed a reputation as one of the top talent evaluators in the country.

Additionally, Jim has coached in the Southern California Summer Pro League, at the high school level in Michigan, and served as director of the Jim Sleeper Professional Basketball Clinics for ten years. He is a graduate of the University of Maine.
